Job summary

The City of Edinburgh Council is seeking a Play and Outdoor Equipment Technician to inspect, repair and maintain school play equipment and surfaces across Edinburgh. The role is based at Bankhead Depot and involves outdoor, physical work with some site travel and hands-on duties.

You will carry out planned inspections, emergency repairs, minor defect rectification and routine maintenance, following ROSPA guidance and manufacturer recommendations.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out a full maintenance and repair service for the Council’s play and outdoor equipment, following ROSPA Play Safety guidance.
• Carrying out planned inspections of play areas and other equipment and recording inspection outcomes.
• Carrying out emergency inspections of damaged equipment and making the area safe until repairs are available.
• Carrying out minor defect rectification to equipment, fencing, furniture and surfacing.
• Installing small items of play equipment and furniture as per site plans and manufacturer’s details, reporting major defects.
• Using hand tools and powered equipment safely.
• Routine maintenance and cleaning of equipment with daily fault reporting.
• Maintain strong customer focus and report issues affecting appearance to supervisory staff.
• Proactively identify changes to improve service delivery and represent the Council’s interests.
