Job summary

Wigan Council is seeking a Low Bank Ground Coordinator to lead health and safety, deliver engaging outdoor activities, and manage equipment at Low Bank Ground as part of the Be Well Outdoors team. You will oversee staff deployment, training and operational delivery, ensuring programmes for schools and community groups are delivered to high standards while meeting AALA and RYA requirements.

Qualifications

• Significant experience delivering outdoor education and adventure activities.
• Strong organisational, leadership and communication skills.
• Experience working with schools, community groups, young people and vulnerable adults.

Responsibilities

• Lead on health and safety compliance, risk assessments and equipment inspections.
• Coordinate staff deployment, training and operational delivery.
• Deliver high-quality outdoor activities, including water sports, bushcraft, archery, raft building and team challenges.
• Maintain activity equipment and ensure compliance with governing body standards such as AALA and RYA.
• Support business growth, financial targets and continuous service improvement.
• Mentor and support full-time, part-time, casual staff and volunteers.
• Work across the wider Outdoor Adventure Service, including Low Bank Ground, Hinning House, Scotman's Flash and other outdoor venues.
