SSE plc is recruiting an experienced Operational Technology Technical Engineer to join the Distribution OT team, delivering upgrades to key OT systems within ADMS+ & DERMS. You will help monitor, maintain and improve OT reliability while supporting ED2 & ED3 delivery targets.

The role involves cross-team collaboration and potential 24/7 standby duties. You will work 50% in Portsmouth (or Perth) and 50% in other locations, with permanent, full-time employment and Flexible First options.

• Ideally experience in scripting, server management and databases; GE PowerOn and AVEVA PI familiarity recommended.

The Role

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Operational Technology Technical Engineer to join the our Distribution OT team. Working as part of our OT Support & Engineering teams (ADMS+ & DERMS), you will be responsible for helping deliver projects, enhancements and upgrades of our key OT systems. This contributes to Distribution successfully completing their plans for the ED2 & ED3 periods.

You will also work closely across the OT Support & Engineering teams to help proactively monitor, maintain and improve the reliability of our OT systems.

You Will

• Help introduce new technologies, deliver detailed proof of concepts, research developing industry trends and recommend strategic improvements.
• Work closely with the Distribution Control Centres to help them develop, enhance and simulate their control system.
• You will be involved in the Cyber Security Distribution OT systems, by actively monitoring and reviewing the health and security of these systems. This will include participating in Cyber Response Activities (both actual and mock).
• Assisting the OTSE team in investigating and resolving faults. This may lead to being part of a 24-hour standby rota.

You Have

• Relevant experience of working with and supporting OT applications.
• To be curious about understanding complex systems and how to monitor, enhance and improve them.
• Ideally you have experience in scripting, server management, and databases as well as GE PowerOn and AVEVA PI, although training will be provided.
• Ability to work both autonomously and as part of a small team is fundamental to this role.
• Ideally you have a full, current driving licence, although this is not essential it will be required if you become part of the out of hours support rota.
