Job summary

King Edward VII's Hospital in London seeks a Theatre Practitioner in Orthopaedics to provide skilled clinical and technical assistance within the operating theatre team and to participate in assessing patient care needs and maintaining agreed standards of care.

Essential qualifications include RN 1st level registration (adult/child), a health-care diploma/degree, ODP Level 3 NVQ, and ODA 752, plus a minimum of 2 years' UK hospital scrub experience in Orthopaedics.

Qualifications

• RN 1ST level registration for adults and/or children is required.
• Diploma or degree in health care studies is required.
• ODP Level 3 NVQ certification is required.
• ODA 752 qualification is required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in positioning and preparing patients for procedures.
• Label and dispatch specimens to the laboratory as directed.
• Maintain asepsis, cleanliness, decontamination and sterilisation procedures.
• Participate in induction/orientation programmes for new staff.
• Prepare patients for operative procedures in anaesthetics and surgery.
• Provide assistance in clinical and operative procedures (anaesthetics and surgery).
• Provide initial emergency care as required.
• Take charge of the clinical area in the absence of an advanced practitioner, ensuring safety.
• Ensure equipment is checked prior to use and report faults.
• Work as a cohesive team to achieve department objectives.
• Follow procedures for supplies and ordering as directed by the line manager.
• Ensure confidentiality of information per data protection rules.
• Handle and store drugs safely as per hospital policy.
