A healthcare organization in the UK is seeking a full-time clinical professional to assist Consultant Surgeons and attend clinics addressing lower limb issues. The role offers no on-call commitments, and responsibilities include serving in theatres and collaborating with the surgical team to ensure high-quality patient care. Qualified candidates must have the right to work in the UK and current GMC registration. This position involves working at the renowned South West London Elective Orthopaedic Centre, performing high volumes of surgical procedures yearly.
You will be expected to spend four and a half days a week on clinical responsibilities. These duties will involve serving as first assistant to Consultant Surgeons in theatres and attending one or two clinics per week: assessing, diagnosing and treating patients with lower limb issues, including OA and soft tissue, explaining treatment options and associated risks to patients, listing them for surgery where appropriate, and performing the procedures with guidance from Consultants.
Full‑time position (40 hours per week). Theatres run 6 days per week. No on‑call commitments. Work will be based at Epsom General Hospital within the South West London Elective Orthopaedic Centre (SWLEOC).
SWLEOC is a partnership commissioned by four South West London acute hospital Trusts and provides routine and complex elective and non‑urgent emergency orthopaedic surgery services to patients aged over 18. The centre has been rated Outstanding by the CQC (2016) and is the largest hip and knee replacement centre in the UK and one of the largest in the world. It performs around 5,200 procedures per year, with patients referred from across the UK and internationally.
Facilities include a 27‑bed inpatient ward, a 24‑bed Post Anaesthetic Care Unit (PACU) with a Day Case Unit, an outpatient department for clinics and research clinics, and six laminar flow operating theatres.
For new entrants into the NHS, your pay under the Agenda for Change or Medical & Dental Pay Bands will normally be set at the minimum of the advertised pay band.
