Job summary

Airedale General Hospital is seeking a Band 6 Physiotherapist to lead advanced assessment and treatment for Orthopaedic patients across trauma and elective pathways. The role includes community outreach as part of discharge planning and AR care models.

You will supervise and develop junior staff and students, contribute to audits and service development, and deputise for the Team Leader as required. A strong emphasis on governance, equality and collaboration underpins the role.

Qualifications

  • Degree or equivalent pre-registration award in Physiotherapy.
  • State registrations with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • Completion of course in Professional Practice education; Leadership courses.
  • Member of relevant professional groups/organisations; recent band 5 level experience including 12 months in acute ward work.
  • Experience of guideline development or audit.
  • Experience of multidisciplinary team working with other professions and agencies.
  • Experience of clinical supervision both as supervisee and supervisor.
  • Recent experience of student training.
  • Experience in Orthopaedic assessments and treatments; knowledge and clinical reasoning to support advanced practice.
  • Knowledge of the roles of other professionals and partnership working.
  • Knowledge of clinical governance and ability to audit standards in the team.
  • Commitment to equality and NHS constitution; awareness of national/local legislation in Orthopaedics.
  • Specialist knowledge to support expert clinical practice in Orthopaedics.

Responsibilities

  • Lead in advanced assessment and treatment of Orthopaedic patients.
  • Work across Trauma and elective Orthopaedics; include community outreach for discharge to assess models.
  • Consolidate and develop knowledge and skills; supervise and develop junior staff and therapy assistants.
  • Provide expert training and education for staff and other health professionals.
  • Deputise for the Team Leader when requested.
  • Deliver and evaluate therapy services on acute wards with a focus on timely hospital discharges.
