Orthopaedic Specialist Nurse

Are you an experienced orthopaedic nurse with a passion for innovation, technology, and patient-centred care? We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly skilled Specialist Orthopaedic Nurse to support the development and delivery of a digitally supported service for patients undergoing orthopaedic surgery across Arrowe Park and Clatterbridge Hospitals.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will:

  • Collaborate with orthopaedic consultants in a variety of settings, including inpatient wards and outpatient departments.
  • Lead and deliver nurse-led clinics to support patients in their post-operative recovery.
  • Use and help shape digital platforms to improve communication, monitoring, and follow-up care for orthopaedic patients.
  • Contributeto audits, and participate in teaching to ensure our service remains evidence-based and forward-thinking.
  • Play a key role in the ongoing evaluation and refinement of our digitally enabled pathways.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Significant experience in elective orthopaedics.
  • Proven ability to work independently and manage a specialist caseload.
  • Strong IT skills and confidence in using digital tools in clinical practice.
  • A working knowledge of digital health platforms.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications, Specific Experience & Training
  • First level NMC Registered Nurse
  • Educated to degree level in a health-related field
  • Significant post registration experience working within the field of elective orthopaedics.
  • Recognised Level 6 Clinical Examination qualification
  • Recognised level 6 qualification in Diagnostic Skills
Knowledge and Skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience of electronic health records (EHRs) and Digital Health applications
  • Ability to work autonomously and as a part of an interdisciplinary team
