Organisation Design Expert

Contract: FTC 18 months.

Working hours: 35 hours per week (full time).

Salary: £75,850 - £92,196 depending on experience.

Location: London Docklands.

Reporting to: Head of People and Culture.

About the Role

The Financial Ombudsman Service is modernising its Redress System and we need an Organisation Design & Effectiveness Partner to architect future organisational structure, performance, agility and sustainability. You will work across functions to align people, processes and strategy, leading workshops, embedding design principles and delivering impactful operating models.

What You’ll Do
  • Ensure organisation design principles are agreed and applied consistently; facilitate workshops to design and implement new organisational structures and operating models, including governance and reporting frameworks.
  • Work with HR colleagues to evaluate the effectiveness of existing organisational designs and processes through data analysis.
  • Design and deliver change‑management strategies, stakeholder engagement plans, communication plans and readiness assessments to maximise adoption.
  • Align future designs with cultural aspirations and values.
  • Collaborate with HR and stakeholders to ensure organisational capabilities match the requirements of future operating models.
  • Develop and manage implementation plans, including roles, workforce, HR processes and training; ensure timely delivery of milestones and high‑quality outcomes.
  • Use quantitative and qualitative data to inform recommendations, measure impact, and drive evidence‑based decision‑making; create dashboards and reports for stakeholders.
Minimum Criteria
  • Proven expertise in organisation design and development, with a track record of delivering enterprise‑level operating models and structural change.
  • Experience delivering operating models and structural change at enterprise level.
  • Strong facilitation and communication skills, able to simplify complex programme activity and lead co‑design workshops that drive tangible outcomes.
  • Analytical and delivery‑focused – quick to grasp complex processes and deliver evidence‑based solutions.
  • Change leadership attributes: curious, resilient, action‑oriented, managing change with pace and quality.
