Job summary

Evodia Limited is partnering with a leading Defence organisation to recruit an experienced Safety Manager to work on Ordnance, Munitions & Explosives (OME) projects/products. This role offers an excellent opportunity for professionals with a strong background in safety management within DE&S, seeking a contract position focused on critical military projects.

Position Overview

Our client requires an SC cleared Safety Manager to contribute to the development and maintenance of safety cases supporting vital military munitions activities. The position primarily involves remote working, with only occasional visits to the Bristol site. The role is initially contracted until 31 March 2026, with scope for extension.

Key Responsibilities
  • Developing Safety and Environmental Case Reports (SECRs) for procurement milestones and lifecycle stages.
  • Reviewing and updating existing Safety Cases to reflect design, operational, or lifecycle changes.
  • Creating a tailored version of the DGM Generic Safety and Environmental Management Plan (SEMP) for procurement activity.
  • Generating hazard identification logs and refining hazard data throughout project progression.
  • Supporting certification planning and engaging with regulatory bodies.
  • Assisting in submissions for Project Safety and Environmental Panel (PSEP) and OME Safety Review Panel (OSRP) to secure OME Assurance Statement (OAS).
Candidate Profile

Our ideal candidate will bring proven experience in:

  • Safety management within DE&S.
  • Writing comprehensive Safety and Environmental Case Reports.
  • Constructing robust safety arguments and hazard analysis.
  • Hazard identification, risk assessment, and classification.
  • Incorporated Engineer status or equivalent demonstrable experience.
Desirable Skills
  • Knowledge of Explosive Ordnance (OME).
  • Understanding of risk management principles.
  • Familiarity with procurement processes, commercial, and project management.
Contract Details

The position offers a day rate between £350 to £425 (inside IR35) depending on experience. The role is suitable for professionals ready to contribute to defensive capabilities, working predominantly from home with limited site visits.
