Oracle Applications DBA - E-Business Suite

Primary Location: Cheadle (Can also consider Belfast, Bristol, Crawley, Doncaster, Glasgow, Reading or Templecombe).

Hybrid (Minimum 3 days onsite)

Our Opportunity

To manage and support Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS) environments and general Oracle database lifecycle events (projects, upgrades, changes, incidents, etc.).

  • Installation, upgrade, patching, cloning and overall performance tuning of Oracle EBS Environments and associated databases.
  • Technical support and incident management for Oracle EBS Systems.
  • Database support for other Oracle based systems.

The role reports to the Applications & Development Chapter Lead and is a member of the Applications Management Support Team.

Key Responsibilities and Tasks

Oracle E-Business Suite Applications DBA

  • Installation, configuration and maintenance of Oracle EBS R12.x environments.
  • Perform Oracle EBS environment refreshes and resolve cloning issues related to database, application tier or filesystem.
  • Apply EBS, CPU and security patches (application, database or technology stack) as applicable.
  • Work with developers and functional consultants to manage regular code, update, fix deployments.
  • Monitor and tune database and application performance.

General Oracle DBA

  • Database design and implementation.
  • Backups/Restores/Clones of Oracle databases.
  • Implement and maintain database security (create and maintain users and roles, assign privileges).
  • Perform database & application tuning and performance monitoring.
  • Setup and maintain documentation and standards.
  • Work as part of a team.
  • Perform general technical troubleshooting and give consultation to development teams.
  • Interface with Oracle Corporation for technical support.
  • Contribute to a strategic database direction for the organisation.
About You

Skills & Experience

  • Experience as an Oracle Applications DBA supporting EBS R12.x environments
  • Strong knowledge of Oracle Database (11g, 12c, 19c) administration, related utilities and tools
  • Familiarity with Oracle Enterprise Manager for monitoring
  • Strong troubleshooting, communication and documentation skills
  • Ability to perform both Oracle and operating system performance tuning and monitoring
  • Proficiency in Linux operating system administration
  • Sound communication skills with functional & development teams, vendors and systems administrators
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines

Qualification

  • Degree/HND or an equivalent experience in a relevant IT subject

Desirable

  • Experience with cloud-hosted EBS environments (OCI, Azure)
  • Experience of NetApp storage and database backup technologies
  • Knowledge and experience of supporting and deploying other database technologies, i.e. Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL
  • Any related IS certifications/qualifications/training

It would be advantageous if currently held; however, if not held, the successful applicant must undergo, achieve, and maintain SC Clearance prior to commencing employment.
