Job summary

SpaMedica is seeking an Optical Assistant to join our Watford cluster. The role supports optometrists, runs pre- and post-operative clinics, and helps manage theatre activities while ensuring patient confidentiality and high standards of care.

Based in Watford, the position offers full-time hours, 37.5 per week, with shifts from 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM. Candidates should be comfortable working across multiple sites and within a renowned NHS cataract care provider.

Qualifications

• Adhere to the principles of clinical governance.
• Work alongside the optometrists in day-to-day clinics carrying out relevant diagnostic examinations.
• Assist in running pre- and post-operative clinics for all patients.
• Act as theatre runner in a busy theatre environment.
• Be proficient in company database i.e. Medisoft.
• Follow correct procedure for reporting any accidents or incidents.
• Prepare areas prior to clinical activities, ensuring equipment is checked and ready for use.
• Ensure correct storage of all equipment.
• Adhere to all policies and procedures.
• Assist with stock control and maintain par levels.
• Manage diagnostic and theatre equipment daily.
• Ensure patient confidentiality at all times in accordance with GDPR.

Role: Optical Assistant

Location: Ground Floor, St Andrews, The Belfry, Watford, WD24 4WH

This role will be based within our Watford cluster, which involves working across multiple sites.

Hours: Full-time position, 37.5 hours per week, working 4 days out of 6, from 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM

Salary: £29,400

Responsibilities of the Optical Assistant:

• Adhere to the principles of clinical governance.
• Work alongside the optometrists in the day to day running of clinics carrying out the relevant diagnostics examinations.
• Assist in the running of pre and post-operative clinics for all patients.
• Act as theatre runner, escort in busy theatre environment.
• Be proficient in company database i.e medisoft
• Follow correct procedure for reporting any accidents or incidents.
• Prepare all areas prior to any clinical activities, ensuring all equipment is checked and ready for use.
• Ensure the correct storage of all equipment.
• Adhere to all policies and procedures.
• Assist with stock control, ensuring realistic par levels are maintained and all items are readily available.
• Manages all the diagnostic and theatre equipment on a daily basis.
• To ensure patient confidentiality at all times in accordance with GPDR
