Job summary

SPAMEDICA LTD is seeking an Optical Assistant to join our Poole cluster, operating across multiple sites within Forelle House, Marshes End, Upton Road, Poole, Dorset. The role is full-time, 37.5 hours weekly, across 4 days out of 6, with shifts from 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM, offering a salary of £27,762.

Qualifications

  • Experience in optical/ophthalmic clinics preferred.
  • Proficiency with Medisoft or similar patient management systems.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to the principles of clinical governance.
  • Assist the optometrists in day-to-day clinics with diagnostics.
  • Support pre- and post-operative clinics for all patients.
  • Act as theatre runner in a busy theatre environment.
  • Be proficient in Medisoft and patient data handling.
  • Follow procedures for reporting accidents or incidents.
  • Prepare areas prior to clinical activities and ensure equipment is ready.
  • Ensure correct storage of all equipment.
  • Adhere to policies and procedures.
  • Assist with stock control and maintain par levels.
  • Manage diagnostic and theatre equipment daily.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality in line with GPDR.

Role: Optical Assistant

Location: Forelle House, Marshes End, Upton Road, Poole, Dorset, BH17 7AG

This role will be based within our Poole cluster, which involves working across multiple sites.

Hours: Full-time position, 37.5 hours per week, working 4 days out of 6, from 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM

Salary: £27,762

Responsibilities of the Optical Assistant:

  • Adhere to the principles of clinical governance.
  • Work alongside the optometrists in the day to day running of clinics carrying out the relevant diagnostics examinations.
  • Assist in the running of pre and post-operative clinics for all patients.
  • Act as theatre runner, escort in busy theatre environment.
  • Be proficient in company database i.e medisoft
  • Follow correct procedure for reporting any accidents or incidents.
  • Prepare all areas prior to any clinical activities, ensuring all equipment is checked and ready for use.
  • Ensure the correct storage of all equipment.
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures.
  • Assist with stock control, ensuring realistic par levels are maintained and all items are readily available.
  • Manages all the diagnostic and theatre equipment on a daily basis.
  • To ensure patient confidentiality at all times in accordance with GPDR
