Job summary

Optegra Eye Hospital Guildford is seeking a Bank Registered Nurse with ophthalmology exposure to join our surgical care team. The role offers flexible shifts, the chance to gain specialist eye care experience across diagnostics, pre-operative assessment and theatre support, and a pathway to broader ophthalmic skills.

Desirable ophthalmology experience is welcome but not essential; full training is provided and the hospital supports continuous professional development in a consultant-led

Qualifications

• Registered General Nurse with current NMC registration.
• Minimum one year post-qualification nursing experience.
• Strong communication skills and a commitment to high-quality patient care.
• Awareness of the NMC Professional Code of Conduct and the role of the CQC.
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality nursing care across diagnostic, pre-operative, peri-operative and post-operative pathways.
• Carry out pre-operative assessments and diagnostic testing.
• Administer medicines and treatments in line with NMC standards.
• Give clear pre- and post-operative instructions to patients and carers.
• Assist with minor operations and support the theatre team.
• Provide initial emergency care within your level of competency.
• Maintain accurate, legible clinical documentation to NMC standards.
• Follow infection prevention, decontamination and clinical governance standards.
• Mentor and support junior team members.
