Job summary

Optegra Eye Healthcare in Manchester is seeking a Healthcare Technician or HCA (Band 3) with ward or theatre experience, preferably in ophthalmology. You will join a multidisciplinary team and benefit from funded training and development within a supportive environment.

The role includes pre/postoperative care, diagnostic testing, and ensuring high-quality patient care across outpatient and surgery days, with flexible working and strong staff support.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent.
• Experience of working in a healthcare environment or ophthalmic sector.
• Basic Life Support competence.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high quality patient care throughout their visit to Optegra.
• Work with clinical and patient services staff to run operating lists smoothly.
• Perform diagnostic testing in clinic (Biometry, OCT, A-Scan, Visual fields, Pentacam, VA, IOP, Topography).
• Support patients on surgery days and ensure effective communication.
• Handle patient enquiries and refer to a medical practitioner when needed.
• Provide health promotion advice with reference to ophthalmic surgery.
• Provide pre and postoperative care within level of competence.

Education

NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent
