About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Optical Assistant to join the team. As an Optical Assistant you will work alongside the clinical team in the day to day running of eye care clinics, carrying out diagnostic examinations whilst maintaining high quality care to all patients.

As part of this role, we are looking for the successful candidate to take on additional Deputy Manager duties. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and passionate individual to step into the role of Deputy Manager, alongside the Optical Assistant responsibilities. This role will provide essential leadership support at site level, working closely with the Hospital Manager to maintain excellent standards of quality, safety, and service delivery.

We are looking for someone who can :
  • Assist in the running of pre- and post-operative clinicals
  • Act as theatre runner / escort ensuring that patients receive the highest quality care, and our theatre team are assisted during surgery
  • Support patients throughout their journey with CHEC and report any concerns.
  • Ensure all equipment is checked and ready for use
  • Prepare all areas prior to any clinical activities
  • Adhere to good record keeping and high standards of quality patient care
  • Provide administrative and operational support to the Hospital Manager, including overseeing rotas, staffing cover, and day-to-day site coordination.
  • Provide site leadership in the absence of the Hospital Manager, ensuring smooth and safe operations.
  • Support the effective management of equipment, stock, and resources.
  • Ensure compliance with audits and help identify improvements where needed.
  • Work alongside the Hospital Manager to ensure CQC readiness and support improvement plans.
