A leading rail infrastructure company in the United Kingdom is seeking a Track Operative to maintain and repair track components, ensuring safety and service continuity. The ideal candidate will have strong teamwork and communication skills, a valid Driving Licence, and an NVQ Level 1 or equivalent in a relevant subject. This role involves working under varying weather conditions and may require night or weekend shifts.
Every day our rail network carries thousands of passenger and freight trains across miles of track, undergoing constant wear and tear. As a Track Operative you will maintain and repair the track components—rails, sleepers, fasteners, switches, ballast and foundations—to keep services safe and running smoothly.
The role requires working in all weather conditions, at all times of the year, and may involve on‑call duties. You will need to be prepared for a varied shift pattern and be able to live within a 60‑minute radius of the site.
All Track Operatives receive full training and guidance, learning how to use a range of hand tools and heavy machinery safely. Pending successful learning and development, you can progress to a Track Technician.
