Operations Technician - Power Station

Location: East London

Salary: Competitive + Excellent Benefits

Employer: Alecto Recruitment (on behalf of a leading Power Generation Operator)

Ready to take charge of high-performance power generation?

If you're the kind of technician who thrives under pressure, loves keeping complex systems running smoothly, and wants to play a hands‑on role in delivering reliable energy to the grid — this opportunity is for you.

We're partnering with one of the UK's most respected power generation operators. They're looking for a sharp, safety‑conscious Operations Technician to join their East London facility and keep the heart of the plant beating — via the DCS system.

What You'll Do:
  • Take ownership of daily plant operations — monitor, inspect, and control plant parameters.
  • Keep everything running safely and efficiently, from startups to shutdowns.
  • Respond fast and smart to operational challenges — routine, deviation, or emergency.
  • Carry out first‑line maintenance and fault‑finding to keep downtime to a minimum.
  • Manage fuel and material deliveries — from offloading to documentation.
  • Support the Operations Supervisor with outages, projects, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance and safety are always front and centre — because you know shortcuts cost more than time.
What You Bring:
  • NVQ Level 3 or time‑served apprenticeship in engineering or process operations.
  • Proven experience in a continuous process or production environment.
  • Confident with DCS systems and first‑line maintenance.
  • Strong analytical mindset — you can spot, solve, and prevent issues before they escale.
  • Solid understanding of Safe Systems of Work, Permit to Work, and risk assessments.
  • A proactive attitude and genuine pride in operational excellence.
Why Join?

You won't just be “pressing buttons.” You'll be part of a high‑performing team that keeps one of East London's key energy facilities running at peak performance.

You’ll get:

  • Competitive salary & full benefits package
  • Training and development — including HV authorization and ongoing technical upskilling
  • Real career progression within the power generation sector
  • The satisfaction of seeing your work power homes, businesses, and communities
