Job summary

Sherwin-Williams is seeking a capable Production Supervisor in the United Kingdom to lead a production team, ensure on-time delivery, and drive improvements. You will supervise attendance and performance, coach staff, and maintain high standards of safety, quality and efficiency on the shop floor.

The role emphasises effective communication, problem solving, and the ability to work within budget constraints while fostering a collaborative, constructive work environment.

Qualifications

  • Supervisory experience or formal qualification

  • NVQ2 in Team Leader/Management preferred

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and support production team to meet efficiency standards.
  • Manage attendance and performance of team members.
  • Monitor operating standards and implement changes as needed.
  • Coach team members to improve performance and morale.
  • Promote continuous improvement culture and empower staff.
  • Ensure health, safety, environment and quality standards are met.
  • Operate within pre-set budgets and manage day-to-day problems.

  • Production operations are carried out at an effective efficiency standard and the production schedule is achieved.
  • Team members are deployed and supervised effectively.
  • Team member attendance and performance is managed effectively.
  • Operating standards are closely monitored and any necessary changes are initiated.
  • Operator ‘dead time’ is closely monitored and any possible reductions are initiated.
  • Team members are effectively coached to achieve improved performance.
  • A continuous improvement culture and high morale is promoted throughout.
  • Team members are sufficiently empowered to take appropriate responsibility.
  • Team members are actively involved in communication and the development and introduction of improvement initiatives.
  • Team members are educated to appreciate the business needs and decision-making.
  • Team members are appraised and training and development needs are identified.
  • Team members and own operations satisfy Health, Safety and Environment and Quality standards.
  • Operations are performed within pre-set budgets.
  • Cover is provided in the absence of other Team Leaders.
  • Recommendations to plant, equipment and working practices are developed and effectively communicated to management.
  • Day to day problems are resolved.
  • Carry out any other reasonable duties
Qualifications
  • Previous supervisory experience and / or qualifications
  • Educated to O’level/GCSE standard
  • NVQ2 In Team Leader / Management (preferred)
  • Microsoft Office application competency
Knowledge And Experience
  • Inspirational and strong leadership qualities. Excellent interpersonal, influencing, coaching and negotiating skills. A proven track record in managing change within a diverse environment. An articulate communicator both written and verbal. Ability to effectively build and manage relationships. Has enthusiasm and patience to develop others. Values strong team work.
  • Numerically astute with the abilty to analyse data and drive the appropriate action
  • Professional and positive attitude with a high standard of work ethics
  • A strong customer focus
  • Passionate about sustaining standards as a base from which to improve. Produces dynamic and creative but appropriate improvement.
  • Proficient at producing and presenting proposals and able to demonstrate objective analytical skills and business acumen. Systematic. Completer finisher. Good Project management skills.
  • Hands on approach and attitude.
