Job description

Equans is looking for an Operations Manager to join our team in Peterborough a permanent basis. This is a full-time role working 40 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary, bonus and benefits package.

The post holder will take full operational responsibility for the delivery of total facility services to the schools forming the PFI Peterborough Schools Contract. This key role provides the school with a 'One Stop Shop' for all contractual requirements covering hard and soft services; to include excellent customer experience from entrance to exit.

What will you deliver?
  • Take ownership for the contractual delivery of excellent customer service
  • To manage a team of directly employed and sub contracted facilities professionals
  • To ensure staffing levels/shifts are robust to deliver contractual requirements
  • To undertake staff appraisals and identify training/development needs for the facilities team
  • To work with the key site client(s) to ensure a strong and trusting relationship is in place
  • To be the key contact for your site as the "owner" of all service lines contracted to Bouygues E&S FM UK Limited
  • To support and work with the Hard FM & Compliance Manager to ensure contractual compliance for mandatory, statutory and routine tasks
  • To attend contractual meetings as required, to manage the PFI contract
  • To attend periodic and ad hoc performance/service review meetings as required
  • To provide information as appropriate to support Client requirements
  • To support the Contract Manager to ensure successful delivery of approved variations to the contract with specific regard to new works/changes at the school. This includes the management of works arising from the Authority Notice of Change procedures ensuring the works are completed to time and cost in accordance with the agreed scope
  • In accordance with the PFI contract and specifically the payment mechanism, to monitor and review all facilities management (e.g. cleaning, caretaking, waste, catering etc) performance standard/key performance indicator (KPI) requirements of the contract. To lead to resolution, all areas of non- performance failures and ensure that the remedial actions and timescales are agreed with the Contract Manager/Hard FM & Compliance Manager
  • To be responsible for the effective management of contractual performance, including the incurrence of financial penalties, to ensure that all services are delivered to the contract specification and that all changes, developments and additional services are recorded accordingly with the commercial activity of the contract
  • To exercise financial and commercial controls in the management of income and expenditure within agreed budgets. To maximize profitability of operations and deliver ongoing cost savings
  • To assist in the formulation of budgets, business plans and departmental strategies to meet the demands of service provision and continuous improvement
  • To identify and implement improved performance standards and/or realize financial savings for the company
  • To ensure successful delivery of all planned and reactive works associated with Bouygues contractual obligations. All works to be managed by the FM using Maximo Service Provider
  • To ensure successful delivery of additional Small Works in line with the contractual process to include the preparation and sign‑off of quotes
  • To monitor compliance in the completion of COSHH and Risk Assessment records and all associated health and safety documentation, ensuring industry legislation and company quality systems are adhered to and that these areas are effectively managed at all times
  • To support the Contract Manager in the successful delivery of Lifecycle works ensuring the site remains safe and secure at all times and that the school is continually updated on the work plan / progress

Who are we looking for?
  • Proven operational management experience within a hard and soft services environment, with sound knowledge of procedural and legislative frameworks
  • Previous experience working on PFI contracts, preferably in an educational environment
  • Sound financial acumen and experienced in managing budgets
  • Legionella Awareness and Compliance (ACoP L8)
  • Asbestos Awareness
  • Proven experience in managing direct teams and sub‑contractors to deliver high standards
  • Computer literate and capable of using Microsoft packages
  • IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent Health and Safety qualification

This role includes a DBS Enahanced check therefore ability to pass is essential
