Operations Manager

Salary: Competitive plus car/allowance & pension

Grade: 5.3

Hours: Full-time - 40 hours per week (Monday to Friday) plus periodic salaried Saturday or Sunday working.

Location: Tower Hamlets Road, Dover

What you'll be doing
  • Ensure the cost effective management of two main services, kerbside collections and street cleaning. Ensuring that these operate to the highest level of health and safety and in line with company policies, procedures, compliance and legislation.
  • To manage a large workforce, including Service Delivery Managers as direct reports, and all other Drivers & Operatives in line with the contract specifications.
  • Conduct staff training and inductions/welfare, overseeing HR processes.
  • Deputise for the Contract Manager as and when required.
  • Become the CPC holder for the Dover Municipal depot Fleet.
  • Over the health and safety of all staff and site users and ensure they have the correct PPE at all times.
  • AVA reporting and task completion.
  • Ensure all staff are trained and receive the tool box talks.
  • Carry out staff appraisals and ensure development plans are in place.
  • Complete the absence management processes.
  • Ensure all new employees complete the company induction and are developed.
What we're looking for
  • Experience of people management, ideally with larger teams.
  • Previous waste industry experience.
  • Capability to lead, motivate, and develop teams while managing performance and fostering collaboration.
  • Strong verbal, written communication and IT skills.
  • Ability to manage operational budgets, control costs, and optimise resource allocation.
