Job description

Our hub at Stansted is seeking a qualified and motivated individual to join the operations maintenance team as a Skilled Technician.

The role involves ensuring that all plant and equipment on site are repaired and serviced to recognised standards and as per the preventative maintenance schedule, minimizing downtime of sortation equipment.

The Operations Maintenance Technician role is challenging and requires excellent organisational and communication skills. Key responsibilities include:

1. Organising team maintenance and required equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation and maintenance of machinery within operational timeframes.
2. Monitoring staff attendance and implementing remedial actions when necessary.
3. Supervising maintenance team performance and completing all required documentation.
4. Monitoring workflow, identifying potential problems, and taking corrective actions through delegation or escalation.
5. Coordinating with Depot and Operations Managers, Section Leaders, and Control Room to resolve issues.
6. Ensuring smooth traffic flow across machinery with attention to health and safety.
7. Completing all required information recording sheets accurately and timely.
8. Adhering to operational and maintenance procedures as detailed in the Group Operations Manual to maintain customer service standards.
9. Returning equipment to designated areas after use and maintaining equipment in safe working order, reporting defects appropriately.

The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, organised, hold a City and Guilds Electrical/Mechanical engineering qualification, and possess:

• Knowledge of 16th or 17th Edition electrical regulations
• Proven electrical/mechanical maintenance experience
• Ability to read electrical schematic diagrams
• Understanding of PLC-controlled equipment
• Flexibility regarding shift patterns
• Understanding of health and safety legislation
• Full driving licence
