Amazon is seeking an Operations Engineer Intern in London to work on large-scale fulfillment infrastructure projects. You will join one of several teams, design and implement automation solutions, and collaborate with global teams to deliver real impact during a 12-month internship starting in Q2 2027.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Design, build, improve, and innovate order fulfilment infrastructure across the large-scale supply chain network.
• Manage, design, and implement small to medium scope automation projects with conveyors, robots, and work cells.
• Collaborate with global teams to plan, install and commission new equipment and processes.
• Support EU Controls network to monitor MHE metrics and provide visualization/data for internal customers.
• Train technicians in basics of control systems fault finding to raise knowledge level.

Key job responsibilities

As an Operations Engineer Intern, you could have the opportunity to join one of the following teams: Project Management, Change Management, People Management, Planning, Contracting Management, Infrastructure, Reliability Maintenance Engineering and more. You will work on a project with real impact within Amazon. This could include:

• Design, build, improve, and innovate order fulfilment infrastructure throughout the large-scale supply chain network.
• Manage, design, and implement small to medium scope integrated automation projects with system elements such as high-speed sortation, multiple conveyors, package lines, and/or robot work cells.
• Develop alongside global teams to support the planning, installation and commission of new equipment, including project managing implementation of new processes.
• Support within the EU Controls network on a project to enhance the capability to monitor MHE metrics and provide visualization and data to internal customers.
• Work on a program to train technicians in the basics of control systems fault finding to raise the level of knowledge within the site.

A day in the life

Every day is different as an Operations Engineer Intern. You'll work alongside experienced engineers on real projects that design, build, and improve fulfilment infrastructure across Amazon's large-scale supply chain network. You might spend your morning analysing MHE performance data and developing visualisations to help teams monitor equipment metrics, then spend your afternoon on the warehouse floor supporting the installation and commissioning of new automation equipment. You will collaborate with global teams, interface with stakeholders at all levels, and drive solutions with real operational impact.

Amazon's fulfilment network relies on cutting‑edge technology — from robotics and high‑speed sortation to conveyance systems and robotic work cells. No matter which team you join, whether it's Project Management, Reliability Maintenance Engineering, Controls, or Infrastructure, part of your role will involve solving complex engineering challenges. You'll design and implement improvements, support process innovation, and contribute to programmes that build technical capability across sites — developing your engineering, project management, and stakeholder engagement skills in a dynamic, international environment.

Internship Start Dates across the year

We are hiring interns to start in Q2 2027 with 12 months availability.

Basic Qualifications

• Currently in your final or penultimate year and working towards a university bachelors’ or masters’ degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Automation, Industrial or Software), or a STEM subject.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Excel at an advanced level, including: pivot tables, macros, index/match, vlookup, VBA, data links, etc.
• Speak, write, and read fluently in English and at C1 level or above.
• Available for a full-time internship (40 hours/week) with Q2 start date and commit to 12 month internship.
