Job summary

Brighton Philharmonic Orchestra is seeking an Operations & Development Director, a senior leadership role, to grow the charity’s income and audience base. Reporting to the CEO and working with the Board, you will lead fundraising, build donor relationships and raise the organisation’s profile.

You will oversee concert production, marketing and membership; the Concerts & Marketing Manager reports to you and handles day-to-day delivery, while the Finance Manager is also managed.

Qualifications

  • Senior leadership experience in arts/cultural charities.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement fundraising strategies.
  • Strong relationships with donors, sponsors and funders.

Job description

The Brighton Philharmonic Orchestra is seeking an Operations & Development Director, a senior leadership role, to help BPO grow and stay financially strong during an exciting period of growth.

You will report to the CEO and work closely with the Board, leading our fundraising strategy and building strong relationships with donors, sponsors, funders and other supporters. You will also raise BPO's profile and help grow our audiences and membership.

You will oversee concert production, marketing and membership, with the Concerts & Marketing Manager reporting to you and handling day-to-day delivery. You will also manage our part-time Finance Manager.

This is a broad, hands-on role in a small team. You must think strategically while also being ready to handle daily tasks and solve problems.

This role is flexible to be offered between a 0.7 and full time contract, based at our Brighton office, with some flexibility for hybrid working.
