Job description
Overview

We’re looking for a talented Operations Data & Insight Analyst to join our team and help us make the most of the data that drives Thames Water. You’ll play a key role in bringing new tools, technologies, and techniques to life as we tackle current and future challenges across our business.

Responsibilities
  • Building and automating data processes, reports, and dashboards using SQL, Power BI, Python, and Azure Data Factory (including Databricks).
  • Working with large, varied datasets from sources such as environmental data, customer feedback, and operational systems to generate meaningful insights.
  • Designing and managing databases, carrying out data transformations, and supporting the business to improve data-driven ways of working.
  • Translating complex data into clear, visual insights for stakeholders, supporting decision-making across teams and senior management.
  • Documenting and optimising ETL processes, data models, and reporting tools to enhance efficiency and knowledge sharing.

This is a hybrid role based at Kemble Court, Reading (RG2 6AD).

What you should bring to the role
  • Proven experience in data analysis, reporting, and working with large operational datasets, ideally within a utilities or infrastructure environment.
  • Strong technical skills in SQL, Power BI, Power Query, and Excel, with experience in Python, statistical modelling, or similar analytical tools being an advantage.
  • Understanding of data architecture and ETL processes; experience with Azure Data Factory, Databricks, or building data pipelines is highly desirable.
  • A relevant degree in a quantitative or analytical discipline such as Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, or Geography, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Excellent attention to detail, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to explain complex data clearly to non-technical audiences.
What’s in it for you?
  • Competitive salary up to £45,000 per annum, depending on skills & experience.
  • Annual Leave - 26 days holiday per year, increasing to 30 with the length of service (plus bank holidays).
  • Performance-related pay plan directly linked to company performance measures and targets.
  • Generous Pension Scheme through AON.
  • Access to lots of benefits to help you take care of you and your family’s health and wellbeing, and your finances – from annual health MOTs and access to physiotherapy and counselling, to Cycle to Work schemes, shopping vouchers and life assurance.
