Operations Coordinator | Warrington | Up to £40,000 DOE
Hours: 39 per week (Mon‑Thurs 8:00‑4:30, Fri 8:00‑3:30)
Overview
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an Operations Coordinator to join a leading global manufacturer and service provider in the industrial engineering sector. This newly created role, introduced due to business growth, offers a clear progression route into an Operations Manager position.
Responsibilities
- Assist with daily operational activities and gradually take on wider operations management.
- Support workload delegation, monitor progress, and ensure production priorities are met.
- Interpret engineering drawings and assist with basic CAD tasks when required.
- Create and update production schedules, WIP sheets, furnace schedules, and job trackers.
- Attend morning meetings and weekly WIP reviews.
- Operate the furnace and arrange internal/external bake‑outs as needed.
- Carry out quality checks on moulds before casting and ensure MQAD documentation is accurate.
- Maintain yard organisation, safety, and housekeeping standards.
- Assist with purchasing, including obtaining quotes, comparing prices, and supporting supplier management.
- Compile and check Bills of Materials (BOM), confirm stock availability, and create material requirement lists.
- Set up new suppliers, maintain part pricing in the Visual system, and arrange subcontracted services.
- Order materials, consumables, PPE, pallets, timber, and other production/site requirements.
- Perform stock bookings, inventory adjustments, and ensure accurate data in the Visual system.
- Carry out monthly and six‑monthly stock checks, maintain min/max levels, and trigger orders as necessary.
- Monitor and manage stock levels through the Visual system.
- Support unloading deliveries and general yard activities (forklift licence desirable).
- Determine whether materials are stock or job‑specific to ensure accurate booking.
- Arrange shipments, prepare delivery notes, and ensure records are uploaded to SharePoint.
- Coordinate labour requirements when necessary.
- Open new jobs in SharePoint and Visual, uploading budgets, quotes, and purchase orders.
- Prepare and maintain Quality Control Packs, job files, MQADs, and manufacturing schedules.
- Support costing and quoting for internal/external precast and formwork work.
- Update daily UK labour plans and forecast manning levels 4‑6 weeks ahead.
Requirements
- Experience in manufacturing or industrial environments.
- Ability to read engineering drawings; basic CAD skills or willingness to learn.
- Advanced Excel skills for managing complex spreadsheets.
- Strong organisational skills and ability to prioritise effectively.
- Confident communicator able to work with office and yard teams.
- Proactive, hands‑on approach to operational tasks.
- Forklift licence desirable (must be in date).
- Understanding of purchasing or materials planning is advantageous.
