Job description

Watch Manager vacancy with Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service, open to current local authority Crew Managers seeking promotion and to Watch Managers wishing to transfer. The work centres on performing at supervisory manager level, with applicants assessed on their record of leadership, people management and personal development. Eligibility is limited to substantive Wholetime or On-Call Crew Managers in a local authority, or Watch Managers transferring, and applicants must be competent at Level 1 Incident Command. Fit is decided by written evidence against the promotion readiness criteria.

What’s required

Experience

• Current substantive Wholetime or On-Call Crew Manager in a local authority, or a Watch Manager transferring

• Evidence of personal development at Supervisory Manager level
• Experience of successfully managing people at Supervisory Manager level

Skills & knowledge

• Evidence of aligning to the Core Code of Ethics
• Demonstrated behaviours in the Promotion Readiness Criteria: operational effectiveness, personal impact, outstanding leadership, service delivery and organisational effectiveness
• Competent at Level 1 Incident Command

• Completion of all development and training in current role, with currency in all core skills
