Operational Manager

We are seeking an experienced Operational Manager (Band 7) to lead the Specialist Eating Disorders Service (SEDs) within Sheffield Health Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference by managing a specialist community service supporting individuals with moderate to severe eating disorders across South Yorkshire. You will play a key role in ensuring the service runs efficiently, meets performance targets, and continues to improve outcomes for service users.

Main duties of the job

Provide day-to-day operational management and administration for SEDs, ensuring smooth coordination of clinics and appointments.

Work closely with the Service Manager, Clinical Lead, and wider leadership team to deliver against internal and external performance requirements.

Lead on monitoring compliance with contracts, performance reporting, and service improvement initiatives.

Manage and supervise the administration team and oversee operational performance of the multidisciplinary team.

Take responsibility for budget management, health and safety governance, and building maintenance for the service.

Drive change programmes, quality improvement projects, and contribute to strategic planning.

Act as a key liaison with commissioners, external agencies, and stakeholders to support service development.

Job responsibilities

Lead operational management for SEDs across Sheffield and regional hubs.

Monitor and respond to performance trends, ensuring compliance with reporting requirements.

Manage waiting lists, appointment allocation, and administration systems.

Oversee health and safety governance and building management.

Hold delegated budget responsibilities and manage financial processes.

Line manages the admin team and provides operational supervision to the multidisciplinary team.

Represent the service at meetings with commissioners and external stakeholders.

Contribute to service development, quality improvement, and strategic planning.

Person Specification
Knowledge
  • Ability to prioritise work of self and others and produce reports to tight deadlines.
  • Demonstrable ability to manage change and achieve objectives within timescales.
  • Must be prepared to travel outside or around the city for different work requirements.
Qualifications
  • Degree level qualification or equivalent in a health or management related subject
Experience
  • Demonstrated experience of effective performance management including use of a range of IM&T solutions.
  • Working as part of a multidisciplinary management team within a clinical provider
  • Staff management experience including staff supervision, management of absence, performance management.
