Job summary

At Müller UK & Ireland, the OPEX Internship places you at a site in Minsterley, Shropshire, for 13 months starting July 2027. You’ll work with site leadership and the central Operational Excellence team to drive production improvements and learn real-world process optimisation.

You'll gain hands-on experience in problem solving, SPC, FMEA, and continuous improvement while supporting front-line teams and learning how a major dairy business operates daily.

Qualifications

• Proactive students with a passion for operational excellence.
• University students on track for a 2:1 or above seeking a placement year.
• Exceptional communication skills across operators to senior management.
• Self-starter with initiative to drive projects forward.
• Adaptable in a dynamic environment.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
• Basic understanding of operational excellence principles.
• Education: degree pursuit in Chemical Engineering or related field preferred.
• Full UK driving license held for at least one year.
• UK residency; eligible to work in the UK; sponsorship not available due to salary threshold.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support improvement projects to boost production efficiency.
• Analyse OEE losses and implement lasting standards.
• Develop and maintain systems to track material losses and reduce waste.
• Train operators in process optimisation techniques (e.g., SPC, CIP, FMEA).
• Support and coach production teams on continuous improvement projects.
• Collaborate with other placement students on group projects.
