Operating Department Practitioner / Anaesthetic Nurse

Band 5 – Full time (37.5 hours per week)

An exciting opportunity has arisen within our service at the Hillingdon & Mount Vernon Hospital NHS Trust for an enthusiastic, flexible and motivated ODP/Anaesthetic Nurse to join our friendly dynamic hard‑working theatre team.

The Hillingdon Hospital & Mount Vernon NHS Trust is a busy district general situated near London’s Heathrow Airport. The diagnostic and treatment centre at Mount Vernon Hospital will provide day‑care and elective surgery for the Hillingdon area. Staff will benefit from excellent learning and development opportunities.

The theatre suites at both sites comprise 13 theatres and 2 recovery units, covering specialities such as robotics, orthopaedics/trauma, gynaecology, urology, general, colorectal, dental, pain, ophthalmic and general. The department operates 24‑hour theatre provision including obstetrics. Participation in shifts, nights and weekends is essential.

Main duties of the job
  1. Provide responsible and high‑quality patient care maintaining standards in accordance with agreed policies.
  2. Provide skilled assistance as a member of the operating department team and in any other area of the Trust as required.
  3. Maintain standards in accordance with agreed policies, achieve and maintain a quality service.
  4. Participate in the training programmes of operating department practitioners and act as a facilitator/mentor for pre‑registration and post‑registration nursing students in theatre.

Criteria
  • Current RN/AHP registration with NMC/HCPC or other relevant post‑registration qualifications
  • Evidence of study at degree level or relevant qualification in anaesthetic practice
