Job summary

TEKsystems is seeking OpenShift Engineers for a 6 month contract inside IR35 in the Yorkshire area. The role is located in Leeds with 2-3 days per week onsite.

You will support design and build of a secure, compliant OpenShift platform and contribute to architecture, sizing and governance. Key responsibilities include platform automation with Ansible and Terraform, RBAC and network segmentation, and incident resolution across OpenShift, Kubernetes, VMware, and storage.

Qualifications

• OpenShift platform expertise in enterprise or regulated environments.
• Strong troubleshooting across VM, network, storage for OpenShift workloads.
• Experience with VMware vSphere and Kubernetes components.

Responsibilities

• OpenShift virtualization, VM lifecycle management and migrations from vSphere.
• Plan and map OpenShift environment sizing, capacity and topology.
• Define platform governance and operator lifecycle management.

Job description

Role: OpenShift Engineer

Engagement: 6 month Contract inside IR35

Location: 2-3 days per week onsite in Yorkshire

We are seeking several highly skilled OpenShift Engineers to support the designs and build of a secure, compliant, and resilient platform.

Key Responsibilities

• OpenShift virtualization, including VM lifecycle management, migration from vSphere, and production operations.
• Contribute to the planning and mapping of the client’s OpenShift environment
• Assess VMware estates and define OpenShift sizing, capacity, and cluster topology
• Platform engineering capability on OpenShift, with GitOps-led operations, operator lifecycle management, and enterprise governance.
• Implement platform security, RBAC, network segmentation, and compliance controls
• Automate provisioning and configuration using Ansible, Terraform, or GitOps
• Troubleshoot issues across OpenShift, Kubernetes, VMware, networking, and storage

Essential Skills

• Deep infrastructure troubleshooting capability spanning storage, networking, and performance for VM-based workloads on OpenShift.
• Experience designing and building OpenShift platforms in enterprise or regulated environments
• Strong VMware vSphere knowledge (ESXi, vCenter, networking, resource pools)
• Solid Kubernetes or RHEL engineering background
• Automation Experience (Ansible, Terraform, GitOps)
• Ability to diagnose cross-layer issues and lead incident resolution with confidence.
