OpenShift Senior Engineer

Whitehall resources are looking for an OpenShift Senior Engineer. This role is hybrid working with 3 days per week onsite in Sheffield, and the remainder remote working, for an initial 3-6 month contract.

Job Description

The OpenShift Senior Engineer will be responsible for designing and implementing robust OpenShift cluster architectures that meet the bank's business and technical requirements. This includes multi‑cloud, hybrid, and on‑premises deployments, ensuring scalability, security, and compliance across the enterprise.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement OpenShift cluster architecture for multi‑cloud, hybrid, or on‑prem environments.
• Collaborate with architects, product owners, and engineering teams to align solutions with the bank’s strategic roadmap.
• Configure and optimize OpenShift clusters for performance, resilience, and security.
• Integrate OpenShift with CI/CD pipelines, monitoring tools, and enterprise systems.
• Troubleshoot complex issues related to container orchestration and networking.
• Develop automation scripts and templates for cluster provisioning and life cycle management.
• Ensure compliance with the bank’s security and regulatory standards.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong hands‑on experience with OpenShift (installation, configuration, and administration).
• Deep understanding of Kubernetes, container orchestration, and microservices architecture.
• Expertise in Linux systems, networking, and security principles.
• Familiarity with multi‑cloud and hybrid cloud architectures (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Experience with automation tools (Ansible, Terraform) and CI/CD pipelines.
• Knowledge of monitoring and logging tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK).
• Excellent problem‑solving and communication skills.
