You will collaborate with engineering, security, and infrastructure teams to deliver reliable services, implement changes, and contribute to enterprise standards, with weekly on-call duties.

SALARY: £48,987 - £54,430
LOCATION(S): Manchester, Leeds, or Edinburgh
HOURS: Full-time - 35 hours per week
WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, at our Manchester, Leeds, or Edinburgh office sites. As an OpenShift Operator, you'll play a key role in the operation, support, and continual improvement of the Bank's enterprise OpenShift platform, providing a secure, resilient, and scalable hosting environment for critical business services. Working within a highly regulated environment, you'll be responsible for maintaining platform stability, managing incidents and operational issues, implementing changes, and ensuring services remain available, secure, and compliant.
The role is hands-on and delivery-focused, requiring you to troubleshoot complex technical issues, perform platform upgrades and patching activities, manage vulnerabilities, support infrastructure lifecycle activities, and contribute to the introduction of new platform capabilities. You'll work closely with engineering, security, infrastructure, and application teams to ensure solutions are operationally ready, supportable, and aligned to enterprise standards.
Operate OpenShift clusters across environments in accordance with defined platform standards, controls, and support models
Execute upgrades, patching, and maintenance activities with appropriate validation, rollback, and recovery controls
Investigate incidents, perform root cause analysis, and implement permanent fixes to prevent recurrence
Build and improve automation, scripting, and operational tooling to reduce manual effort and increase consistency
Implement and maintain observability (monitoring, logging, alerting, dashboards) to support proactive operations
Operate platform security controls (RBAC, service accounts, certificates, secrets) in line with defined policies
Maintain and improve operational documentation, including runbooks and procedures
This role includes participation in a structured on-call rota, providing out-of-hours support across evenings and weekends to ensure continuous 24/7 service coverage. Candidates should be comfortable responding to incidents outside standard business hours as part of a shared team rotation.
