Overview

We are looking for an experienced OpenCPI Engineer to join our Gloucester site. This role focuses on designing, developing, and deploying RF systems within Defence, Cyber, and Intelligence programmes. You will work with the OpenCPI framework to build, test, and optimize software-defined radio (SDR) systems and RF applications, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams on system integration, testing, and performance optimization. The position offers flexible work schedules and hybrid options where possible, plus opportunities for continuous professional development.

Responsibilities
  • OpenCPI Framework Utilization – Develop and integrate SDR systems using the OpenCPI framework.
  • System Design & Integration – Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and integrate RF communication systems for complex mission environments.
  • Test & Measurement – Apply test-driven development and leverage OpenCPI for verification and validation throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Software Optimization – Improve performance of OpenCPI-based systems for maximum efficiency and reliability.
  • Vulnerability & Security Analysis – Identify and mitigate potential vulnerabilities in OpenCPI-based solutions.
  • Collaboration & Reporting – Provide detailed reports on system performance, issues, and proposed solutions to engineering teams and customers.
Qualifications
  • Proven experience with the OpenCPI framework, including system design, integration, and optimization.
  • Strong background in RF communications and software-defined radio (SDR) technologies.
  • Expertise in digital signal processing (DSP), RF algorithms, and embedded system development.
  • Proficiency in C/C++ and/or VHDL for embedded applications.
  • Familiarity with SDR architectures and chipsets.
  • Desirable: Evidence of previous OSP/BSP development.
  • Familiarity with GNU Radio, Python, and other SDR development tools.
  • Experience working in Linux environments and using GitLab for version control.
  • Knowledge of mission system integration and field trial support.
  • Experience with real-time test and measurement using tools such as vector signal analyzers.
Desirable Skills
  • Evidence of previous OSP/BSP development
  • Familiarity with GNU Radio, Python and other SDR development tools
  • Experience working in Linux environments and using GitLab for version control
  • Knowledge of mission system integration and field trial support
  • Experience with real-time test and measurement using tools such as vector signal analyzers
