Qualifications

• Proven experience in open‑source investigation and social media discovery is an advantage.
• Either a degree or qualification in journalism/communications, or one year of experience working as a journalist.
• A self‑starting journalist who is plugged into current events around the world.
• A fluid, natural communicator who can write clean, simple copy for publication.
• Understanding of social media platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, Reddit, 4chan, etc.

Responsibilities

• Hybrid working 12pm to 8pm UK hours.
• Monitoring Storyful’s news feeds for emerging stories and undertaking advanced searches using our proprietary tools to discover original, eyewitness content.
• Verifying images, posts and videos from the social web.
• Writing clean, concise and accurate copy for publication on the Storyful Newswire and social platforms.
• Contacting uploaders and sources involved in stories.
• Working closely with newsroom clients and content creators.
• Working to deadlines and targets.
• Availability to work a flexible schedule in terms of days and hours, including weekends.
• An ability to communicate clearly within the team, and also to clients and media partners.
