Overview

OOH Veterinary Surgeon – Wiltshire. My client is seeking a Veterinary Surgeon to join their dedicated Out-of-Hours service. The role is based at their Tier 3 Veterinary Hospital in Chippenham, with branches in Calne, Corsham and Melksham. The hospital has ISFM Cat Friendly gold status and plans to add a CT scanner in the future to support outstanding emergency care.

Chippenham is well connected, with easy access to the M4 and nearby cities, offering a balanced location for working and downtime.

Responsibilities
  • Out-of-hours emergency and general care within the hospital’s OOH service, with sole-charge duties balanced by support from an experienced RVN.
  • Collaborate with the team to provide continuity of care and patient welfare.
  • Engage with clients to deliver high-quality emergency veterinary services and professional satisfaction for the team.
  • Potential involvement with weekend day shifts if interested in broadening case load.
Rotas and Working Hours

The role offers a rota prioritising work-life balance: seven nights on, followed by 14 nights off, averaging 31.5 hours per week. No day work is required, though participation in weekend days is possible.

Salary and Benefits
  • Salary up to £65,000, inclusive of holiday pay, with 6.6 weeks of leave.
  • Strong CPD encouragement with £1,750 annual allowance (higher for post-graduate qualifications).
  • RCVS fees, VDS cover, and one other professional membership paid.
