Purovets is seeking an experienced Veterinary Surgeon for a night-time out-of-hours role at a 24/7 small animal hospital in Trowbridge, Wiltshire. The position offers a competitive salary up to £90,000 FTE, a favourable rota with extended time off and strong opportunities for clinical development.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Veterinary Surgeon with emergency and inpatient care.
• Eligible for RCVS registration and active practice.

• Stabilise and treat emergency patients and consult with clients as needed.

The Opportunity

This nine-month fixed-term contract covers maternity leave within a well-equipped, 24/7 small animal hospital. The successful Veterinary Surgeon will manage a varied out-of-hours caseload, delivering high standards of emergency and inpatient care.

The hospital offers digital X-ray, ultrasound, endoscopy and a fully equipped in-house laboratory. The collaborative team includes Medicine and Surgery certificate holders, providing opportunities for case discussion, mentoring and continued professional development.

The rota averages 28 hours per week, with 13-hour shifts from 7pm to 8am:

• Week 1: Sunday, Monday and Tuesday nights
• Week 2: Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday nights
• Week 3: 12 consecutive nights off

About the Candidate

The ideal candidate will be an experienced Veterinary Surgeon with strong clinical skills and the confidence to manage medical and surgical cases independently. They will be comfortable investigating and stabilising emergency patients, making sound clinical decisions and communicating compassionately with clients.

A collaborative approach, commitment to high-quality patient care and enthusiasm for ongoing learning are essential. Support is available for further development and individual CPD interests.
