We're looking for a Shift Leader to join our team at One Stop, a subsidiary of Tesco. As a Shift Leader, you will be working in a fast paced retail environment where no day is the same. You will take ownership of store activities by running duty shifts, co-ordinating a team to deliver a clean and full store that exceeds customer expectations. As the customer is at the heart of everything we do, you will be constantly looking for ways to improve service in your store through on the job coaching and feedback. You will have a great understanding of how your store is performing and be the specialist in delivering practical actions for its improvement by taking a hands on approach. With your guidance, your store will always remain a safe place to work and shop.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate the team to deliver the easiest shopping trip in the community
- Open/close the store and complete duty cover, ensuring decisions are right for customers, colleagues and everyone's safety
- Be the go-to person for colleagues in the absence of the Store Manager for day-to-day operational queries
- Support the Store Manager to co-ordinate seasonal, community and charity events, creating a great inclusive atmosphere
- Ensure the store is always clean, tidy, and well presented
- Prioritise replenishment of products that matter to customers
- Make sure point of sale and shelf edge labels reflect what good looks like
- Take immediate action for any overcharges and prevent recurrence
- Proactively manage queues in store to deliver a great shopping trip for customers
- Coordinate colleagues to deliver daily priorities and manage breaks around trade patterns
- Be knowledgeable about the store and coordinate others to deliver practical actions to improve
- Follow company health and safety routines and ensure colleagues do the same
- Deliver clear communication to the team and keep them well informed
- Look for ways to simplify operations and share ideas with the Store Manager
- Put the customer first in all actions and ensure customer queries are resolved with a positive outcome
- Help resolve customer queries, or escalate to the Store Manager as appropriate
- Ensure adequate staffing, manage short-term absence or sickness by arranging cover
- Act as a recognised Keyholder and attend alarm call outs as needed to ensure store safety and security
- Monitor internal communications and ensure messages are actioned and colleagues are kept informed
- Coordinate with colleagues to meet customer and store needs, feeding back issues to the Store Manager
- Balance time between service and replenishment areas
- Support the Store Manager in managing absence, conduct return-to-work interviews for CSA colleagues and report absence triggers in line with One Stop policy
- Build relationships with Area Manager & People Partner to escalate issues, seek advice, and receive coaching opportunities
- If this store has a Post Office Local, duties will include day-to-day Post Office operations. You may be required to pass a background check; if checks fail the offer may be withdrawn.
