Job summary

EDF Nuclear Operations at Torness Power Station is seeking a Radiological Protection Engineer to deliver protection arrangements and support the station through decommissioning. The role offers structured training toward Accredited Health Physicist status and a path within a highly regulated safety culture.

You will provide expert support across dose assessment, radiological protection programmes, and regulatory engagement, while contributing to continuous improvement and team safety objectives

Qualifications

  • HNC (or equivalent qualification) required.
  • Experience applying technical analysis and making sound decisions using written, verbal and numerical information.
  • Knowledge of radiological protection principles and practices including dosimetry, dose control, contamination control, dose assessment, radiation risk assessment, instrumentation or ALARP.
  • Experience working within a highly regulated industry environment.
  • Security Vetting criteria requires UK residency for at least 3 of the past 5 years.

Responsibilities

  • Providing advice and technical oversight on radiological protection arrangements, including dose assessment and radiation monitoring instrumentation.
  • Supporting radiological protection programmes, including dosimetry, dose control, contamination control, radiation risk assessments, and ALARP.
  • Managing specifications, work instructions and other control documents to maintain radiological safety standards.
  • Contributing to radiological protection training and communication programmes, sharing best practice across EDF Nuclear Operations.
  • Building effective relationships with operational teams, regulators and external stakeholders.
