Job summary

Sanderson Government & Defence in Cheltenham seeks an Infrastructure & Security Engineer to own internal IT infrastructure, security operations, and business systems. You will combine cloud administration, security tooling, and networking to drive secure, resilient platforms supporting cyber research activities.

You will lead projects, manage Windows/Linux endpoints, Microsoft 365, AWS, and security tooling. Join a small, autonomous team focused on continuous improvement and compliance.

Qualifications

• Strong fundamentals in Windows and Linux administration and security.
• Experience with Microsoft 365, Azure AD/Entra ID, and Intune.
• Knowledge of AWS infrastructure, networking, and security tooling.
• Proactive security mindset with incident response and hardening practices.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and improve core infrastructure for security, resilience, and efficiency.
• Lead infrastructure projects from concept to implementation within a small team.
• Oversee cloud, security operations, networking, and compliance activities.
• Coordinate penetration testing and security improvement programmes.
• Own backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity processes.
• Drive Cyber Essentials / Cyber Essentials Plus certification efforts.
• Maintain documentation, asset management, and IT governance.
