Job summary

RWE Renewables UK Management Ltd. invites motivated students to join as a Year in Industry placement at Robin Rigg Offshore Windfarm, Workington. The role is full-time for 12 months, starting July 2027, and requires residence nearby due to site location.

You will gain practical day-to-day operations exposure, work on wind turbines, and contribute to engineering policies, with ownership of a project from start to finish. A security vetting requirement may apply.

Qualifications

  • Ongoing studies in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Engineering, IT, Computing and Networking.
  • Eligibility to complete a year in industry placement as part of the degree programme.
  • Very good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to coordinate workloads independently and meet tight deadlines.
  • Confidence working in a diverse team environment and engaging with a range of stakeholders.

  • A minimum of five years’ residence in the UK due to the potential requirement for National Security Vetting.

Responsibilities

  • Gain practical insight into the day-to-day operation of an offshore wind farm.
  • Build hands-on offshore engineering experience by working on wind turbines.
  • Support the development and implementation of engineering policies and procedures for wind farm operations.
  • Take ownership of an allocated project from the initial stage through to completion.
  • Contribute to tasks supporting strategic engineering and commercial decision-making.
  • Assist with the planning, scheduling and delivery of maintenance work to optimise costs and plant performance.
  • Deliver selected engineering projects for Robin Rigg Offshore Windfarm based on the relevant degree discipline and experience.
