Job Description

As an Offshore Cable Design / Analysis Engineer, you will provide day‑to‑day expertise to the Offshore Cables Engineering team on cable design, analysis and hardware design activities. The role is client‑facing, requiring strong communication skills and the ability to support Project Managers and Lead Offshore Engineers with deliverables for HVAC / HVDC Offshore Cable elements.

Responsibilities
  • Support junior team members through training, guidance and knowledge transfer.
  • Design cables and interfaces for HVAC Inter Array and HVDC Interconnectors up to 525kV.
  • Produce electrical and mechanical designs, calculations and specifications for HVAC and HVDC cables following industry standards.
  • Conduct Thermal, Current and Power Rating studies, Short Circuit Current, Pull‑In, Dynamic Analysis (Orcaflex), Fatigue Analysis and on‑bottom stability (DNV Stablelines).
  • Generate layouts, general arrangement drawings, decommissioning procedures and cable accessory specifications.
  • Prepare application and installation procedures and support procurement activity with vendor engagement.
Qualifications
  • Strong experience in cable design, manufacturing and specification, including HVAC Inter Array and Export cables (66kV–132kV).
  • Proficient in Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD and other design software; adept with bespoke or non‑standard packages.
  • Experience with Orcaflex dynamic analysis and knowledge of cable installation, handling and maintenance.
  • Capability to coordinate cross‑departmentally and with external vendors and clients.
  • Understanding of UXO, PQQ/ITT processes and potential on‑shore HVDC design is desirable.
