Job description

Poolhall Recruitment is delighted to be working with a well-known primary school in Birmingham to recruit an experienced and proactive Office Manager. This is a temp-to-perm opportunity, with the potential for a long-term position for the right candidate.

The Role

Reporting directly to the Headteacher, the Office Manager will oversee the smooth and efficient running of the school office. This key role involves managing the administration team, supporting staff and pupil recruitment, and ensuring effective communication across the school community.

Knowledge of Arbor and Sampeople is preferred.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and support the school s administrative team, ensuring efficient day-to-day operations.
  • Provide administrative and diary management support to the Headteacher and senior leadership team.
  • Coordinate staff recruitment processes in partnership with HR.
  • Support pupil admissions, maintaining accurate records on the school s MIS.
  • Oversee office communication with parents, carers, and external agencies.
  • Manage financial administration, including purchase orders and payment reconciliation.
  • Maintain compliance with GDPR, safeguarding, and data protection standards.
  • Assist with the organisation of school events, trips, and correspondence.
Requirements
  • Previous experience in a school office or senior administrative role.
  • Strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills.
  • Confident in using Microsoft Office and school MIS systems.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks, manage deadlines, and handle confidential information.
  • Flexible and adaptable approach to supporting a busy school environment.
  • Fluent spoken and written English (as required under the Immigration Act 2016).
