Job summary

A design company in Belfast is seeking a motivated individual for an entry-level position. You will support warehouse management and assist senior colleagues while receiving comprehensive training. THE EMPLOYER IS: DESIGNS BY OMAK LTDThis is an entry level position for a bright and ambitious individual to support the existing team while benefitting from the opportunity to learn and grow in a company. Full training and support will be given which will give the successful applicant a chance to learn every aspect of a growing business including business systems (ordering, invoicing, stock management, supplier management, customer-facing skills), commercial awareness and experience of the day-to-day activities in a commercial environment. This position will give the successful applicant skills for life in the world of work. This role will provide the opportunity for mentoring support from highly experienced people to help you develop your skills.

Responsibilities
  • Warehouse: Oversee all activities in the warehouse. You will be responsible for the warehouse, ensuring a clean and ordered environment where valuable stock is kept correctly and is easy to find.
  • Stock: Receiving and checking stock, ensuring accompanying paperwork is recorded and stock booked in on the system, booking out stock to fulfil customer orders, packing customer orders with delivery notes are included, shipping returns to suppliers.
  • Stock: You will support the business and customers by delivering orders to customer sites and collecting stock from suppliers.
  • Office Support: You will build knowledge of our suppliers and their products, technical aspects of lighting across the sectors we work in: commercial, hospitality and residential.
  • Office Support: You will be supporting senior colleagues in product selection for lighting projects.
  • Office Support: Using our software systems to support with administration of orders including: order placement, uploading products, creation of new supplier and customer accounts, booking out and receiving stock.
  • Customer Support: Providing support with the selection of products on customer projects, sourcing and costing products according to customer specifications.
Skills and Qualifications
  • General IT skills and ability to learn new software systems.
  • Communication skills including written and verbal for writing emails, answering the phone, and conveying information confidentially to the team.
  • The ability to convey information correctly, especially in the case of conversing with suppliers and customers.
  • Organisational skills, including the ability to prioritise and complete the duties required of this position in a timely manner.
  • GCSE English and Maths.
  • Knowledge of the use of social media to support the marketing and promotion of the company.
  • Basic understanding of lighting products and electrical terminology, including wattage, lumens, colour temperature (Kelvin), voltage, lamp types, and IP ratings.
  • Ability to read product specifications and identify common lighting components such as LED drivers, lamp bases (GU10, E27, etc.), and fittings.
  • No formal electrical qualification required - just a willingness to learn and understand key product attributes.
