Counter Terrorism Policing (CTP) is a collaboration of UK police forces working with the UK intelligence community to help protect the public and our national security by preventing, deterring and investigating terrorist activity.

Based at our modern offices near to Birmingham International Airport, our Operational Development Unit (ODU) is a dedicated team who are responsible for the strategic management of Learning, Training and Exercising (LTE) within the CT Network. The unit forms a key part of the Prepare strand of the Home Office CONTEST Strategy. Working alongside our partners, the ODU harnesses the value of shared LTE to ensure the CT Network is ready, prepared and interoperable to respond to current and emerging terrorism threats.

We're looking for a highly organised, committed individual with excellent IT skills, and high levels of customer service to join us as a Business Support Officer to organise and administer training events and provide administrative support across the team.

You will work Monday to Friday from 8am to 4pm but an element of flexibility is necessary to meet operational requirements. The role is primarily office based however there will be some flexibility to work in an agile approach.

The role

As a key member of our Operational Development Unit, you'll be responsible for supporting the efficient and effective administration of a portfolio of training packages.

Using your excellent customer service and communication skills, you'll provide support including booking accommodation and travel, undertaking finance, procurement, and general administration duties. You'll be the first point of contact for all enquiries relating to resource management and attendance on LTE events and meetings.

Responsibilities
  • Organising and administering training events and ensuring logistical arrangements, including attendance and recording feedback.
  • Supporting the ODU team, including updating and recording training registration data, and the use of booking systems.
  • Supporting the formation, recording and maintenance of internal meetings, training, forums and workshops.
  • Maintaining and updating course material including delegate information and joining instructions ensuring documentation relating to course delivery is made available to delegates.
  • Supporting meetings; minute taking, maintaining action logs, collation and circulation of documentation and co-ordinating pre meet sessions.
  • Ordering uniform, stationery and other consumables, using contracted suppliers.
  • Maintaining accurate finance records including creating and processing invoices.
  • Ordering refreshments/catering for meetings and courses.
  • Undertaking Health and Safety Coordinator responsibilities including preparation for annual audit, ensuring staff receive adequate training and information, and actively participating in health and safety meetings. Ensuring required Risk Assessments are in place.
  • Report and record maintenance faults and follow up where required.
Skills and competencies
Essential
  • Experience of working in a customer focussed environment utilising tact and diplomacy skills to influence and negotiate towards positive outcomes.
  • Effective team working skills.
  • Good organisational skills with the ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines, sometimes on own initiative without supervision.
  • Excellent written, numeracy and verbal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders at variety of levels.
  • Effective IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook.
  • Experience of minute taking.
Desirable
  • Administration, planning and organising of large‑scale training events.
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety in an office environment.
  • A full driving licence.
Security Clearance
