Responsibilities

• Operating Theatre Preparation: ensure the theatre is sterilized and ready.
• Equipment Preparation: organise required surgical tools and devices.
• Sterilization: sterilise materials, gloves and gowns.
• Inventory Counts: perform initial counts of sponges, instruments and needles.
• Team Coordination: liaise with nurse teams throughout procedures.
• Post-Surgery Care: assist with dressing wounds and recovery prep.
• Surgical Assistance: support the surgeon during procedures.

ODP/Scrub Nurse Key Responsibilities

• Operating Theatre Preparation: Ensure the operating theatre is fully sterilized and prepared for procedures.
• Equipment Preparation: Prepare and organize necessary equipment for surgeries.
• Sterilization: Sterilize materials, gloves, and gowns.
• Inventory Counts: Perform initial counts of sponges, instruments, and needles.
• Team Coordination: Liaise with other nurse teams throughout the surgical process.
• Post-Surgery Care: Assist with dressing wounds and preparing the patient for the recovery room.
• Surgical Assistance: Assist the surgeon throughout the procedure with various tasks.

ODP/Scrub Nurse Requirements

• Qualifications: Formal nursing qualifications are required.
• Experience: Must have experience with WHO checklists, team briefings, and strong communication skills.
• Flexibility: Must live locally and be flexible to cover shifts as per the rota. On-call duties after the surgical list are also required.
• Shift Patterns: Shifts start at either 7 am or 9 am.
