Ocean Freight Import Operator – Basildon

Salary: £30,000 – £40,000 per annum
Location: Basildon, Essex
Hours: Monday to Friday, 09:00 am –5:30 pm
Contract: Permanent, full-time

Noble Recruiting is recruiting an experienced Ocean Freight Import Operator for a well-established Logistics freight forwarding company based in Basildon. This role is suited to an Import Operator with strong knowledge of ocean freight processes, customs clearance and shipping documentation.

Key responsibilities

• Manage ocean freight import shipments from booking to final delivery
• Liaise with overseas agents, shipping lines and carriers
• Prepare and process shipping documentation including bills of lading
• Ensure accurate customs entries and compliance with import regulations
• Track shipments and provide updates to customers
• Process and check freight invoices
• Resolve shipment delays and discrepancies

Key requirements

• Minimum three years’ experience in Ocean Freight Import Operations
• Freight forwarding background
• Strong knowledge of customs procedures and INCOTERMS
• Experience with FCL and LCL shipments
• Familiarity with CDS or CHIEF systems
• Strong attention to detail and communication skills
• Right to work in the UK
