Job summary

Lewisham Council seeks an Occupational Therapy Surveyor to provide specialist technical support for adaptations in Housing. You will ensure compliance with planning and building regulations, and manage the process for council-owned properties, delivering safe, person-centred housing solutions.

You will perform technical surveys, prepare scalable drawings, and balance clinical judgement with practical construction considerations while communicating clearly with residents and teams to promote

Introduction

Do you have experience in Inspecting Council dwellings to advise on adaptation methods and provide technical advice to the Community Occupational Therapy team to support tenants with disabilities to live independently?

Are you able to deal sensitively with clients, considering cultural and religious needs when recommending construction solutions?

Do you have experience in carrying out site surveys, prepare sketch schemes and scaled working drawings, and submit documentation for planning and building regulation approvals.

Are you able to prepare specifications, schedules of work, manage tender procedures, obtain competitive estimates, and recommend suitable contractors?

What’s the role?

The role of the Occupational Therapy Surveyor is to provide specialised expert technical support and advice for adaptations to Community Occupational Therapy clients.

As well as ensuring all adaptation works comply with relevant planning and building regulations, as well as carrying out all statutory processes for Council-owned properties and ensuring all works are completed to a satisfactory standard.

What we’re looking for

We are seeking a motivated, organised, adaptable and experienced Occupational Therapy Surveyor to join our team and play a key role in delivering safe, effective, and person-centred housing solutions. You will have a strong understanding of the link between health, housing, and independence, and be confident in recommending appropriate adaptations.

You will be skilled in carrying out technical surveys, problem-solving creatively, and balancing clinical judgement with practical building considerations. You will also have excellent communication skills, a professional and customer-focused approach, and a commitment to promoting independence, dignity, and wellbeing for residents.

Location

The job is primarily based in Laurence House, Catford, London, SE6 4RU but we operate a hybrid approach where you will be required to work both in the office and from home on a regular basis.
