Job description

Overview

This Band 5 post is working within our acute inpatient team in the trauma and orthopedic specialty at Birmingham Children’s Hospital. We need an individual who can bring occupational therapy assessment, intervention and outcome measurement to life for our patients.

Responsibilities
  • You will be given an opportunity to work in a vibrant and dynamic environment, committed to developing your skills, including assessment, intervention, prescribing equipment, complex discharge planning and general rehabilitation.
  • The postholder will be a member of the Occupational Therapy team and work as part of a wider multi-disciplinary team within the hospital.
  • Duties may include in-patient and out-patient work, taking place on Trust premises or occasionally within the community setting.
  • Assessment and treatment are carried out in numerous settings including the Occupational Therapy department, hospital ward, or home/community settings.
  • The Occupational Therapist develops the child and young person’s ability to master self‑help, work and play skills using purposeful activity and adapted techniques and equipment to assist performance.

  • We are looking for individuals who are enthusiastic, flexible and motivated to learn with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • A passion for working with children, young people and their families is essential.
Supervision & Team

A Senior Occupational Therapist will provide regular support and supervision. The Head of Occupational Therapy will be available as necessary.

Work Setting

This post is based at Birmingham Children’s Hospital, where you will collaborate with a wide range of MDT colleagues and community service providers.
