Elysium Healthcare is seeking an Occupational Therapist to join The Dean Neurological Centre in Gloucester and Stanley House in Bosbury, Herefordshire. You will assess, plan and implement neurological rehabilitation to maximise independence and quality of life, with regular reviews and goal setting.

You will work within a transdisciplinary team, be HCPC registered, and benefit from a wide training program and supportive network.

Qualifications

• HCPC registration (current) is required.
• Experience in neurological rehabilitation and related assessments is essential.
• Ability to plan, implement and review OT interventions.
• Experience supervising OT staff or students is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Conduct neurological assessments and develop treatment plans.
• Deliver rehabilitation to improve function and independence in ADLs.
• Perform cognitive assessment/rehabilitation and adjust plans accordingly.
• Utilise therapeutic handling and assess equipment needs.
• Coordinate with community services for discharge planning.
• Monitor outcomes and align with care plans.

Job description

You will be HCPC registered, passionate about working with people with neurological conditions to support their rehabilitation, condition management and maximise their quality of life.

You’ll work in partnership with residents and carers to set realistic goals and develop collaborative intervention plans, with regular reviews to monitor progress and adapt.

Working as a member of the transdisciplinary team, you’ll ensure that high quality individualised care is delivered, which ensures safety and a commitment to promoting recovery, wellbeing, and maximising independence/quality of life.

You will be familiar with the use of outcome measures such as FIM/FAM, CRS-R, WHIM and TOMS, and have experience in managing a designated caseload using knowledge of relevant Occupational Therapy theory. You’ll also have practical experience of completing assessments, planning, implementing evidence-based Occupational Therapy interventions, and evaluating outcomes aligned to care plans.

With a strong emphasis on teamwork, you’ll receive support from a regional network of healthcare professionals and enjoy access to a wide variety of training courses to support you reaching your career goals.

As an Occupational Therapist you will be:

• Completing neurological assessments, treatment planning and interventions
• Rehabilitation interventions to improve function and independence with ADLs
• Cognitive assessment/rehabilitation
• Using of therapeutic handling skills
• Assessing environment and equipment needs including specialist seating
• Identifying ongoing needs whilst maximising quality of life
• Liaising with community colleagues to facilitate complex discharge planning
• Evaluating outcomes aligned to care plans
• Supervising Occupational Therapy support staff and students
• Implementing and develop evidence-based therapeutic activities

Where you will be working

4 days per week at The Dean Neurological Centre which has 60 beds, based in Gloucester (GL2 9EE). The site is on the outskirts of the town within easy commute from Gloucester, Cheltenham and surrounding villages.

1 day per week at Stanley House which has 41 beds based in Bosbury, Herefordshire (HR8 1HB).

Business travel between sites is fully funded, with mileage reimbursed.

Both sites deliver specialist 24-hour nursing and therapy services for people with complex long-term neurological conditions who require ongoing support and assistance to maximise functional ability.

They specialise in slow stream rehabilitation where the emphasis is placed on maximising each individual's abilities, comfort and quality of life.

Bedrooms are fitted with high dependency equipment, including ceiling track hoists, wall mounted suction and oxygen equipment with all rooms adapted to individual requirements. There are also well-equipped therapy facilities and other facilities such as gardens, gym and minibus.
