NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is recruiting an Occupational Therapist to join the Older Adults OT service at Gartnavel Royal Hospital. The role is a permanent 36‑hour week, Monday to Friday 8.30am–4.30pm, delivering assessment, rehabilitation and discharge planning for adults 18+.
You will work within inpatient settings, using graded therapeutic programmes to promote independence and community living, contributing to multidisciplinary team care and evidence‑based practice.
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is one of the largest healthcare systems in the United Kingdom, employing approximately 40,000 staff across a wide range of clinical and non‑clinical professions and roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health services to a population of over 1.15 million people, and to a wider population of 2.2 million when regional and national services are included.
Occupational Therapy staff within Mental Health Services work as part of multidisciplinary and integrated multi‑agency teams to support patients in achieving improved health, wellbeing and independence through participation in graded therapeutic programmes. The service focuses on reducing the impact of physical and mental health conditions on an individual’s ability to function independently in everyday activities.
Occupational Therapists use specialist assessments to evaluate a person's functional abilities and identify levels of support required to maintain independence across a range of living environments. These assessments contribute to multidisciplinary care planning and may include the prescription of adaptive equipment, risk assessments and the use of standardised outcome measures to support evidence‑based practice.
Working within inpatient services, the post holder will provide assessment, treatment, rehabilitation and discharge planning interventions for patients aged 18 years and over. The service supports adult and older people’s acute admissions, adult rehabilitation and intensive care settings, with Occupational Therapists playing a key role in delivering person‑centred interventions that promote recovery, independence and successful community living.
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) may be able to provide visa sponsorship for certain roles, subject to the post meeting the relevant eligibility criteria. Sponsorship is not guaranteed and will be determined on a case‑by‑case basis following interview and during the pre‑employment verification process. Applicants must state their current right to work in their application.
